Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) has granted Consent of Affiliation to Government Medical College, Wayanad for the annual intake of 50 MBBS students starting from the academic year 2025-26. This approval, valid for three academic years, follows the recommendation of the Local Inquiry Committee and is subject to permission from the National Medical Commission under Section 26 of the NMC Act, 2019.
The college has systematically strengthened its infrastructure in compliance with NMC norms. Dedicated academic and hospital buildings are now functional, with enhanced teaching facilities, administrative systems, and digital amenities. Concerns highlighted in earlier inspections have been addressed, ensuring a supportive environment for medical education and patient care.
Faculty recruitment and staffing have been reinforced to meet NMC requirements. The institution has taken steps to fill the vacancies in teaching faculties, thereby improving the student–teacher ratio and clinical exposure for the incoming MBBS batch.
